The April 27 deadline has passed, and seven candidates in the area have submitted papers to run for seats in the State House.

Rep. Pat Jehlen, D-Somerville, has pulled papers, and has a Republican opponent for the 27th Middlesex District, Dane E. Baird Jr.

Resident Carl Sciortino Jr. is running against Rep. Vinnie Ciampa, D-Somerville, for the 34th Middlesex District.

The 26th Middlesex District has three candidates this year. Rep. Tim Toomey, D-Cambridge, will face off against Avi Green and Republican David Slavitt.

Sen. Jarrett Barrios, D-Cambridge, has submitted papers for Middlesex, Suffolk and Essex districts representing one-third of Cambridge and two wards in Somerville, while Sen. Charlie Shannon, D-Winchester, is a candidate for Senate in the 2nd Middlesex District.

According to the office of Secretary of State William Galvin, candidate Robert B. Antonelli, who is running against Shannon, has taken out papers. However, he has not filed papers in Somerville.

According to Nick Salerno from the election department, "We haven't had any papers turned in by Antonelli. The deadline was April 27 at 5 p.m., and he would have to turn nomination papers in here by then."
