About AviA former teacher, Avi Green has been working for years to give neighbors the power to improve their communities. For the past several years, he has worked as a consultant to help nonprofits, foundations, and the Democratic Party. Avi has served as a teacher for kindergarten and seventh-grade students. As a volunteer, Avi has taught job skills to adult learners and tutored children at Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School. As a community volunteer, Avi worked to remove the influence of big money from politics as a volunteer for the National Voting Rights Institute. He also volunteered and served as Advisory Board member for Mass Voters for Clean Elections. Over the years, Avi has helped organizations to protect the environment and mobilize young people to vote. He has also worked to help minorities, working people, women, and others to get involved in the political process and win improvements for their communities. As a strong supporter of public transportation, Avi helped to found the Somerville Transportation Equity Partnership (STEP), and is an active member of both STEP and Friends of the Community Path. Avi studied Religion and Mathematics at Columbia University, graduating with honors while working two jobs. In 1999, Avi earned a Masters Degree in Public Policy from Harvard University. An active runner, Avi has completed four marathons. He is engaged to Cambridge native Sarah Almer. About SarahSarah Almer currently works at a nonprofit as an advocate to improve public health and healthcare for families across Massachusetts. Prior to her current position, she worked in the Massachusetts state legislature and United States Congress. Sarah is a Cambridge native and attended the Agassiz public school. |
